GLVAR donates $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas to help a local family build a home

Building on a longstanding commitment, the Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS® (GLVAR) will present Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas with a $100,000 donation on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 8:30 a.m., in sponsorship of a new home.
“GLVAR is excited to once again support Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas, and we look forward to building upon our established partnership with this great organization,” said GLVAR President Scott Beaudry. “Many of our REALTORS® are excited to once again have the opportunity to volunteer their time and help a family move into a new home. GLVAR has had such a rich history with Habitat for Humanity, and it is our goal to continue to foster that relationship and our collaborative efforts to ensure our community stays strong and vibrant. ”
The three-bedroom home will be the 13th Habitat Las Vegas house that GLVAR has supported over the years. In addition to providing full funding for the construction, GLVAR’s members also will help build the home. The new home will be adjacent to the six single-family homes Habitat Las Vegas completed on Merze Avenue and Ward Drive, as part of Habitat’s neighborhood revitalization efforts in Henderson’s Pittman region.
“Our corporate partners are integral to the success of fulfilling Habitat Las Vegas’ mission, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to join forces with GLVAR,” adds Meg Delor, Habitat Las Vegas’ executive director. “By working together with our community supporters, neighborhoods become safer and resilient, and in turn, secures a healthier future for our families.”
Since 1991, Habitat Las Vegas has provided simple, decent and affordable homes for low-income families, in addition to helping transform and strengthen our communities throughout Southern Nevada.
In addition to meeting income requirements, working families who qualify for Habitat’s homeownership program must perform 300 hours of volunteer “sweat equity” building other Habitat homes, including the one they will eventually own.

Open Arms Counseling Signs 5 Year Deal at The Pinnacle

Nevada REALTORS® visit France to showcase Silver State real estate, attending world’s largest real estate conference and networking event

Top REALTORS® from Nevada will be showcasing the Silver State and its real estate opportunities by attending MIPIM, the world’s leading global real estate market, business conference and networking event, being held March 15-18 in Cannes, France.

At least six leaders of the statewide Nevada Association of REALTORS® (NVAR) and the Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS® (GLVAR) are scheduled to attend. They include NVAR Past President Kevin Sigstad, GLVAR Past Presidents Keith Lynam and Heidi Kasama and GLVAR CEO Michele Caprio, as well as Las Vegas REALTORS® Rena Levy and Azim Jessa.

These Nevadans will be part of a growing USA pavilion, hosted by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the nation’s largest real estate trade organization.

This is the second year of NAR’s expanded presence at this global event, providing local and regional U.S. markets the ability to showcase opportunities for foreign investment.

“The U.S. is consistently among the top-ranked markets for real estate investors,” said NAR President Tom Salomone, broker-owner of Real Estate II Inc. in Coral Springs, Florida. “Events in other global markets, including the slowdown in China and the recession in Brazil, further strengthen the U.S. position as the safest place to put money and see strong returns for both domestic and international investors.”

GLVAR and NVAR leaders added that Las Vegas and Nevada have become increasingly popular places for foreign buyers to invest in homes and other forms of real estate.

Industry research reveals foreign buyers plan to invest more cash in U.S. real estate in 2016 than in 2015, which saw massive inflows of foreign capital to the U.S. market. In fact, 64 percent of foreign investors surveyed by the industry association AFIRE plan to increase U.S. property investments in 2016.

In addition to Nevada and the greater Las Vegas area, U.S. markets featured in the USA pavilion include the states of Florida, Illinois and Missouri and the metro areas of Miami, San Diego and Scottsdale, Arizona. The CCIM Institute and the Institute of Real Estate Management, both affiliated commercial industry groups of NAR, will also be featured in the USA pavilion.

Some 21,000 leading real estate executives from 89 countries, including more than 4,800 investors, are set to travel to Cannes for the four-day annual gathering of the global real estate industry. The event brings together investors, developers, occupiers, architects, hotel groups, public authorities, city mayors and property associations from around the world.

North Las Vegas Mayor, John Lee, will join representatives of VanTrust Real Estate, LLC, Las Vegas-based Martin-Harris Construction, the general contractor on the project, and other officials for the 3:00 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony signaling the start of Phase 1 construction.

VanTrust Real Estate Announces Groundbreaking of Northgate Distribution Center

Van TrustVanTrust Real Estate, LLC, announces the groundbreaking of Northgate Distribution Center, a 120-acre industrial project located at the intersection of Interstate 15 and Lamb Boulevard in North Las Vegas.  Northgate Distribution Center is one of the largest speculative development projects in the history of Nevada, with a 558,000 square foot distribution building and 247,750 square foot warehouse planned in Phase 1 alone. Anticipated completion of Phase I construction is late 2016.

Michael LaBar and Michael Shaffner Join Marcus & Millichap

Michael Schaffner Marcus & Millichap (NYSE: MMI), a leading commercial real estate investment services firm with offices throughout the United States and Canada, has hired Michael R.
