Stephanie Hill Elected To Serve On National Council of Multiple Listing Services Board Of Directors

stephanie-hillStephanie Hill, who directs the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for the Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS® (GLVAR), has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the National Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS). CMLS is the professional trade organization that serves the MLS industry across North America.

Starting in January, Hill will serve a one-year term on the CMLS board as its secretary/treasurer. In addition to Hill, new CMLS officers for 2018 include David Charron, chief strategy officer of Bright MLS in Maryland, who will serve as president, and Chris Carrillo, CEO of Metro MLS in Illinois, who will be president-elect. They will be joined on an executive committee by current CMLS president Lauren Hansen, CEO of Information and Real Estate Services, LLC in Colorado, when she becomes past president in 2018.

“It’s exciting to see that CMLS has become the organization where MLS industry leaders volunteer their time and expertise to build a better marketplace,” said Denee Evans, CEO of CMLS. “These are the right individuals at the right moment to help CMLS bring the real estate industry together to create a shared vision for what the future marketplace should look like.”

New CMLS officers and directors were elected by the general membership, with the exception of business partner directors. Business partner directors are appointed by the board of directors.

Prior to joining Colliers, Hureskin spent 13 years in the Federal Housing Division working for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in both Chicago and Las Vegas. He previously worked for the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, where he served as a property manager for federally assisted multi-family housing properties and managed over 300 residents along with multiple properties throughout the Greater Las Vegas area.

During his time as a property manager for HUD, Hureskin assisted with over 12 different properties and has planned and organized several projects with the City of Las Vegas for vacant lot management in preparation for sale.

In his spare time Hureskin volunteers as a basketball coach at the YMCA for youth ages ranging from kindergarten to the eighth grade. He has a strong passion for acting as a mentoring figure for children and showing them how to grow into productive young adults.

Michael Shohet Joins Nevada HAND

Mike ShohetNevada HandNevada HAND has hired former NAIOP Southern Nevada president and longtime local real estate executive Michael Shohet as executive vice president of real estate development.

Shohet’s responsibilities cover sourcing and executing new development projects for the nonprofit real estate development and management organization that improves the lives of low-income individuals, families and seniors in Southern Nevada through affordable housing solutions and supportive services. Nevada HAND has built and currently manages 30 affordable apartment communities throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Shohet has 20 years of experience in real estate development, construction, engineering and project management. Prior to joining Nevada HAND, he was a vice president in the Las Vegas project and development services business unit of JLL, a Fortune 500 professional services firm specializing in real estate and investment management. He also served as vice president of development for Territory Incorporated where he developed more than one million square feet of commercial projects throughout Las Vegas.

An active NAIOP member since 2005, Shohet served as the commercial real estate and development association’s local president in 2016. He will continue to chair its Government Affairs Committee, which is responsible for monitoring state, local and federal government industry issues through interaction with government staff, elected officials and NAIOP corporate liaisons.

Shohet has a Bachelor of Applied Science in civil engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and a Master of Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.


Natalie Allred Joins Avison Young Las Vegas

GLVAR Hires Lance Ferguson as COO

Lance Ferguson, GLVAR COO[2]The Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS®(GLVAR) has hired longtime local operations executive Lance Ferguson as its chief operating officer.

As COO, Ferguson will be responsible for overseeing the operations of GLVAR and its more than 30 employees, filling a position that became available earlier this year when longtime GLVAR executive Wendy DiVecchio was promoted to chief executive officer.

“Lance joins the association with many years of relevant experience,” 2017 GLVAR President David J. Tina said. “He has lived in Las Vegas for many years and knows the local market, which will serve him well in this job working closely with Wendy. He’ll be a great asset to the association.”

A native of Fontana, California, who has also lived in Utah, Ferguson has lived in Las Vegas for the past 19 years. Before joining GLVAR, he was the facility director for Implant Direct, a company that makes and distributes dental implants. He has 18 years of experience managing operations for successful organizations. He earned his bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
