Cheynne Commerce CenterSuperior Pools signed a 38-month $143,971 lease for 11,062 square feet of industrial space inside Cheyenne Commerce Center at 580 W. Cheyenne Ave., Suites 90/100 in North Las Vegas. Cushman & Wakefield’s Curtis Sanders represented the lessee and Gatski’s Rob Lujan and Jason Simon represented the lessor, Harsch Investment Properties LLC.  The reported average rent equals 54 cents per square foot.

Panda Express signed a 5-year $299,472 lease renewal for 1,835 square feet of retail space inside Horizon Pointe at 2654 W. Horizon Ridge, Suites B9/10 in Henderson. Cushman & Wakefield’s Dan Hubbard represented the lessor, Villa La Paloma LLC.  The reported average rent equals $2.72 per square foot.

Harsch Investment Properties Wins Two TOBY AwardsHarsch Investment Properties recently won two TOBY Awards, including Outstanding Building for the Year, from the Building Owners and ManagersAssociation of Nevada. Harsch’s Henderson Commerce Center IV Phase I was selected as the Industrial Office Park of the Year. Traverse Point Commerce Center, a recent acquisition for Harsch, was also recognized as the Warehouse/Distribution Facility of the Year. 

Nevada Retail Sales to Increase 5.2% in 2013

The Retail Association of Nevada (RAN) forecasts state retail sales will increase 5.2% in 2013 or 2.2% higher than the national average, reports the Retail Association of Nevada. “We witnessed strong growth in retail sales throughout the state in 2012, with the preliminary growth rate coming in 3.1-% higher than 2011’s 4.2% increase,” said RAN President Mary Lau“Many economic indicators affecting retail sales have shown significant improvements in the last year, and we expect these trends to continue in 2013.”

UNLV architecture professor Alfredo Fernandez-Gonzalez was named the 2012 Nevada Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.  The award was presented during a luncheon Nov. 15 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes professors for their influence in the classroom and their commitment to undergraduate students. Fernandez-Gonzalez was selected from a pool of nearly 300 top professors nationwide.

Nevada Halloween Spending to Reach $118 MillionAn estimated 1.5 million Nevada residents will spend $118 million celebrating Halloween this year, reports the Retail Association of Nevada. It marks 10.4% increase over last year’s $107 million in Halloween spending. “Retail spending is rising in Nevada, and Halloween is always a great excuse to make a few fun purchases,” said RAN President Mary Lau. “With Halloween spending in the state expected to reach its highest level yet, there is reason to remain optimistic about sales trends throughout the rest of the year, especially during the approaching winter holiday season.”
